High alpine Rockies classic. Five day backpack in August 2017 with Ken, a fellow teacher.
Hiking the Brazeau Loop is an excellent choice for someone’s first long distance hike into the Canadian Rockies. The trail is very well marked and maintained. Campsites are well spaced out, making for nice days hiking, never feeling in a rush.
The scenery can be spectacular, while we had smoke and clouds, Pobokton Pass alone was worth the effort. We met many fine people along the way, including Ed and his butter. And had a wonderful group meal on the last night as we all tried to empty out our packs from the food we had brought.
Both Ken and I had done multi day backpacking trips before, but this was to be my longest hike at around 90km.
